Pentaho - 1 : Introduction

In this blog posts series I hope to introduce you a Business Intelligence (BI) tool. I came across this BI tool during my internship program.
So, let's get our hands dirty with "Business Intelligence" ;)

Introduction to Pentaho Community Edition

Pentaho BI Suite Community Edition (CE) suite includes ETL, OLAP analysis, metadata, data mining, reporting, dashboards and a platform that allows you to create complex solutions to business problems.
The Pentaho BI Platform provides the architecture and infrastructure required to build solutions to BI problems.
The most well known implementation of the BI Platform is the Pentaho BI Server which functions as a web based report management system, application integration server and lightweight workflow engine (action sequences.) It is designed to be easily integrated into any business processes.
Community Edition is self supported open source software.
An Enterprise Edition (EE) of the Pentaho BI Platform is available as part of the Pentaho BI Suite EE which includes technical support, managed upgrades and enterprise features.
